Last Friday, 27th September, saw the week long Global Climate Strike drawing to a close. Some of our staff went down to the opening day of the strike the previous week, where we gathered in front of The Building Centre with fellow colleagues, practices and organisations from the industry including the UK Green Building Council, RIBA, the NLA and Architects Declare. We marched down to Parliament Square as part of an industry body in recognition of the impact that construction has on the environment.

An interesting event last week at which Mark along with MACE presented our project at the Paul Webley Wing, for the School of Oriental and African Studies. Guests heard how SOAS's requirements for a new student hub and teaching, study and academic spaces were accommodated within an iconic Grade II* listed building in the heart of the Bloomsbury Conservation Area, creating a modern and enlivened student-academic centre as a focal point for its centenary celebrations.

HEDQF Event: The Challenges and Complexities of Academic Space
Mark Gabbey will be speaking about ‘the challenges and complexities of academic space’ at this Wednesday’s HEDQF event, to be held at Reading University. He will be sharing recent experience from our work on the University of Westminster’s Psychology Department, a new facility focused on enhancing the experience of academic and student engagement and reflecting this in a refreshed department identity.
