An interesting event last week at which Mark along with MACE presented our project at the Paul Webley Wing, for the School of Oriental and African Studies. Guests heard how SOAS's requirements for a new student hub and teaching, study and academic spaces were accommodated within an iconic Grade II* listed building in the heart of the Bloomsbury Conservation Area, creating a modern and enlivened student-academic centre as a focal point for its centenary celebrations.

Rock Townsend has been appointed by The School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) to refurbish the Philips Building on its Bloomsbury Campus. Originally designed by Denys Lasdun and completed in 1973, the refurbishment of this grade II* listed building will require a balance between the sensitive re-articulation of Lasdun’s original vision and modern interventions that meet the needs and expectations of today’s staff and students.
