Steve's Stoked - Staff Rides #6
Born again motorcycle rider Steve Stokes is back in the saddle following a misguided spell in the scooter club. Now the proud owner of a Triumph Sprint, Steve has promised not to mention the aforementioned scooter period again. Instead he is spending his time delighting the team with anecdotal tales of his colourful motorcycle youth.
If you've got a spare minute, ask him about 'that time on the frozen canal'

The Observatory ...
RT are chuffed to bits to find out today that we have been long listed for our entry 'Glimpse' into The Observatory Competition, run by SPUD (Space, Place Making and Urban Design).
The competition is to design an artist's studio that will move across 4 different locations for a period of 6 months each. It should be a place where the artist will be inspired by the surrounding landscape as well as attracting visitors to come and view the artist at work.
To produce our entry we worked in collaboration with Cornish based designer-maker Felix McCormack, whose work can be seen @ felixmccormack.co.uk
Peabody Exhibition ...
Yesterday lunch time a few of us had a little jaunt down to The Building Centre on Store Street to have a look at the Peaboady's Small Project Panel Architectural Competition. The exhibition includes the 20 shortlisted small housing schemes. It's only a small exhibition but worth a look. The AJ exhibition for the tiled water disposing kiosk has also just opened there.
We are recruiting...
We are looking for Part I, Part II or a newly qualified Architect to join our Waterloo Studio. The successful candidates will join our existing teams working on a mixture of Education, Housing and Commercial Projects.
We require candidates to be able to work in a team structure, be self-motivated and ideally be able to use Revit BIM.
Please send your CV in A4 .pdf format (max. 8 pages) to studio@rocktownsend.co.uk . .

Upside Down House ...
The team went to have a look at artist Alex Chinneck's latest piece this lunch time. The work, name 'Miner on the Moon' appears to be an upside down house in amongst a row of existing buildings. The building is set for demolish due to the '20 Blackfriars' devolpment, so the piece of art is only temporary.
Alex Chinneck said of his work to London SE1 : "By doing something very simple like re-presenting the everyday world but inverted, it hopefully encourages people to look again and cherish the world around us," the artist told the London SE1 website.
