Lovely lightwells just gone in at Grade I Listed King’s College, London. Well done team - tricky but pretty!
Rock Townsend were appointed by Farrans to provide executive architectural services for the shell and core of this college building in central London. The ‘shell & core’ project is on the whole an in-situ concrete shell modelled by the engineer to which we add the architectural elements of rooflight glazing, pre-cast concrete cladding, waterproofing, thermal insulation, an amount of cast-in services, balustrades, external steps and Quad level external finish.
The project was designed using Revit to expedite the programme and ensure an efficient design and communication process, working to a rapid 73 week programme.
Our scope includes work to the Kings Steps (new slab and pre-case stone finishes and handrails), Kings Vaults just below these steps, the Rooflights, Somerset House East Wing, stair and lift core, and new ground floor surface over the Quad building.
