Delighted to hear that our scheme to provide new affordable housing at King Offa achieved planning earlier this week.
St Albans District Council had identified a need for larger affordable family homes to meet the demands of their housing waiting list, as well as a general requirement for affordable homes in the city.
Our proposal is for 13 new three to four bed houses plus a single two-bedroom wheelchair accessible bungalow, with associated car parking, landscaping and private gardens. Providing these larger sized family homes on this site will free up one and two bedroom houses elsewhere that could be better allocated to smaller family sizes across the city.
The scheme seeks to establish a new residential area that connects to the existing residential development whilst at the same time establishes its own distinct identity.
The new homes will be timber framed with air sourced heat pumps (ASHP) to provide more sustainable heating.
RT are working alongside Jarvis Contracting who have played an instrumental project management role in the process, with this successful collaboration aimed at meeting and exceeding the aims of St Albans DC in providing affordable housing to meet local resident needs. We have found the Council a fantastic client to work with - hoping to collaborate on many future schemes!
