At the start of the summer, we were delighted to be appointed by one of our clients to help them plan their Route to Zero Carbon. And we were really encouraged that the brief included both Operational and Embodied Carbon!
With changes to Part L expected in early 2021, the Future Homes Standard in 2025 and the UK’s commitment to Net Zero Carbon by 2050, as well as the majority of local authorities declaring a climate emergency, the direction of travel is clear but how we best achieve these short to long term goals needed further investigation.
Our work looked at existing house types and their current performance as a benchmark and explored what might be required to satisfy the new Part L and beyond.
As regulations evolve this piece of work is just the beginning but already the changes are looking exciting and, more importantly, achievable! Great to have a little help from our favourite LETI design guides! [Images ©LETI].
We hope to be able to share more detail soon.
