Have you got a name for your bike?
Mr Wasaki
Have you always ridden motorcycles?
No, I’m a convert. My fist bike was a little Honda 400f which was on the blog a couple of years ago. I come from a background of messing about with cars so it was a refreshing change to get my hands dirty on the 400. It was old [1978] so there was plenty to go wrong and keep me occupied.
What do you ride now?
Having sold that I moved onto something completely different in the form of a Triumph sprint 900. Otherwise known as the most uninteresting piece of over engineering ever created.
Tell us about your current project.
In the middle of last year my father in law offered me his decrepit Kawasaki GT750 which had just failed its MOT. He had owned it from new and couldn’t face sending it to the scrap yard. I think the poor thing was stripped to the frame in less than an hour. The engine was dead so I managed to persuade a friend to sell me his reliable Suzuki GS500e which was now surplus to requirements following an upgrade to a BMW GS 1200. I got the complete bike so to aid any alignment headaches I have adapted the rear swing arm to fit the Kawasaki frame.
So what’s next?
Once the fabrications complete I need to clean and paint the lot. Then put it back together and make up the wiring loom which I'm secretly looking forward to.
