New Cavendish Street Campus
University of Westminster
RT developed a masterplan for the University of Westminster's central London site and designed a series of buildings and spaces to unite the campus in response to its need for additional teaching and social learning space.
The new 9 storey Copland Building pays homage to the existing Lyons Israel Ellis & Gray's powerful piece of urban archaeology and provides open-plan floor space within which the academic departments can move and grow, adapting to changing circumstances. At the center of the masterplan, a new pavilion building provides the social hub - the ‘heart’ of the campus.
In a separate study, the main entrance was redesigned, improving access and creating a new public space inhabited by minimalist sculpture.
