Kings Langley Secondary School

Kings Langley

Set in the Hertfordshire green belt, Kings Langley Secondary School is one of the four schools RT won competitively as part of the Interserve Kajima consortium, forming part of the governments PF2 programme.

The new school increases capacity from 1085 pupils to 1180 pupils, aged between 11 and 18 years old and includes an SEN department.

A theatre and a gym supporting the school’s focus on arts and sports in addition to their academic learning.  Both spaces were carefully designed to incorporate flexibility of use, providing space for exams, meetings and whole school events. Community access to these facilities is encouraged and facilitated through a separate secured entrance available out of hours.  IT classrooms are located on the ground floor to increase accessibility for the public for out of hours learning.

As with all the HLR schools, Kings Langley was constructed while existing school operations were maintained.  Our final scheme takes all constraints into account while maintaining the standard design concept wherever possible.

The resulting building delivers a light, spacious environment for staff and pupils as well as access for the wider community.

I love the open space and all the natural light - it looks amazing!!
